What is the OSCELOT
Sponsorship
Program?
Fully approved by the OSCELOT Board,
the OSCELOT Sponsorship Program is the official path for substantial,
non-directed monetary contributions to OSCELOT. It is the most direct
method for a corporation or individual to support OSCELOT. In return,
OSCELOT will make official acknowledgement and thanks for the
donation via Public Relations involvement (as appropriate according
to sponsorship level), sponsor logo and link ('no follow' at the
Bronze level) on the OSCELOT 'Thank You' page (logo and link subject
to approval from the OSCELOT Public Relations and Fund Raising
Committee) and an official “Sponsor of OSCELOT” logo to place on
the Sponsor's site.
There are five sponsorship
levels,
defined by donation and in-return benefits of sponsorship. If you are
interested in supporting OSCELOT via provision of services please
contact the Fund Raising Committee (fund.raising@oscelot.org).
Donations made to the OSCELOT Sponsorship Program must be coordinated with the OSCELOT Public
Relations and Fund Raising Committee (fund.raising@oscelot.org). Please contact the PR and
Fund Raising committee for details. You may also use our Paypal link
for one-time
or monthly sponsorship amounts to be charged to your Paypal or

Anonymous
Non-directed Sponsorships
We also accept anonymous non-directed sponsorships in any denomination.
Anonymous non-directed contributions
are anonymous to the public though we will acknowledge on
our 'Thank You' page the number and overall total of anonymous
non-directed contributions.
Why should I sponsor
OSCELOT?
OSCELOT provides the education
community with the means of collaborating and delivering open-source
software projects in a highly visible context. OSCELOT projects are
characterized by a collaborative, consensus based development
process, a desire to create high quality software that provides
innovative solutions in eduTech. We consider ourselves not simply a
group of projects sharing a server, but rather a community of
developers and users working to better education through technology.
OSCELOT provides the infrastructure for
the projects - the mailing lists, code repositories, bug tracking
systems, etc. While all of the administrative effort is currently
through unpaid volunteers, we need financial assistance to improve
our outreach and extend our services to meet the broadest audience
possible.
By sponsoring OSCELOT you show your
support for our mission and help sustain a vibrant and growing
organization. Sponsorship also shows your support for Open Source and
provides you the opportunity to "give back" to the
community. Finally, since OSCELOT is non-profit tax exempt
organization, sponsorship provides attractive tax benefits.

Where
will my sponsorship funds go?
OSCELOT comprises over 300 active
global members, over 100 projects, and countless contributors and
users. We are responsible for maintaining the sites and software
which make up our infrastructure. We also have the normal business
operating expenses which go with any organization. These include:

Servers and hardware

Legal and Accounting
-
Normal office expenses

Marketing and PR
-
Sub-contractors to "fill the
gaps" for administrative and secretarial duties
Your sponsorship will allow OSCELOT to
meet these expenses as well as expand our capability to maintain our
leadership in the developer and Open Source communities. Funding will
allow us to perform pro-active software and hardware procurement,
enhance our community outreach, sponsor Open source Day and user
groups (Kindles), and
perform non-code related improvements to
projects such as better documentation and more comprehensive websites.
Non-directed vs directed sponsorships

Non-directed sponsorships are used at the discretion of OSCELOT for
funding and delivering the various services provided by the
organization and those who serve the organization.
- Directed sponsorships are used in a
targeted manner for accomplishing specific goals of the organization.
Please note that we currently do not support directed
sponsorships
of any nature or amount.
OSCELOT is a non-profit organization
OSCELOT is a private operating
corporation that is registered as a non-profit, charitable
organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue
Code. This means that, for individuals within the U.S., donations to
OSCELOT should be tax-deductible. We are not accountants, so this
cannot be trusted as financial advice of any kind, but hopefully this
description will be useful to those who advise you in these matters.

about supporting OSCELOT, please contact fund.raising@oscelot.org. Sponsorships are handled differently from standard
non-directed donations, so if you want your donations to be part of
the Sponsorship program (and thus obtain the benefits of the
program), you must coordinate the donation with the Public Relations
and Fundraising Committee (fund.raising@oscelot.org).
